The Old Guard
I watched The Old Guard today, I enjoyed it. It was an action movie, so lots of hand to hand combat, shooting unnamed minions, and typical movie violence, but with the added twist of the heroes being essentially immortal. The thing that makes it different from other superhero/action movies is that it has two canon same sex relationships, one m/m pairing in the present timeline and one f/f pairing in flashbacks. I've seen online that a lot of people are loving it, and understand why, but I think if it didn't have the LGBT representation it probably would have been another fun but forgettable action flick. Also, the main storyline was wrapped up, but the end was left open for a sequel, which I would totally watch.
Everyone online loves Nicky/Joe, which I totally get, and I'll probably be checking out some fic, but I found I liked all the characters. I really liked Booker, which I know I shouldn't, because you know why, but I can't help it. Plus I liked the Andy & Booker friendship, and the Andy and Nile mentorship. Also, I'm interested to see where the story with Quynh goes, if the second film gets made, which I assume it will. I assume it is going to be the typical revenge plot, but I hope they do something a little different with it.
