Supernatural

Summary: Adam and Michael, in hell and after.
Reccer's Note: I received this as a gift for fandomtrees, but I don't think I am biased when I say it is beautifully written. The author is able to capture Adam's full experience in such a small amount of words, and it reflects on how Adam has changed. It is all from Adam's POV, but the glimpses we do get of Michael illustrate how much he cares for Adam.

One Night by story_monger

Relationships: Sam/Cas
Summary: Castiel has already gone through the rigmarole of coming out as asexual and aromantic. That somehow doesn't stop a few unruly cousins from setting Castiel up with a stupidly tall sex worker named Sam. Castiel is mortified and ready to put the whole thing behind him, except he and Sam inexplicably bump into each other again a few weeks later. It marks the beginning of a friendship that ushers them into new territories, both with each other and the people around them.
Reccer's Note: If you follow me at all you are probably tired of me reccing this fic, but it is one of my favourite Sastiel fics. It is an all human, non-supernatural AU, Cas is asexual and works at a museum, Sam is a law student that pays for school via sex work, I think how the author handles both is very well done. They are also able to incorporate a whole host of side characters, including many angels as Cas' extended dysfunctional family.

Good Omens

I Want To See You (In the Dark) by ineffablebadger and QuestionableGeek

Summary: When it came down to it, Aziraphale had always loved Crowley. He had taken comfort in the fact that he is an angel and is supposed to love all of Her creations. The thought that he could love Crowley in a more specific way was something he had considered before but had kept in the far reaches of his mind like a shameful secret. As the thought began to break free, the feeling of love overwhelmed him in a not dissimilar way to the flames overwhelming the church. He tried not to consider the meaning of a church of the Lord burning to ash before his eyes as he realised that he is in love with a demon .
Aziraphale and Crowley steal a night in the darkness hoping that they will remain unseen together in the blackout.
Reccer's Note: This fic ponders what if Aziraphale and Crowley had gotten together after the 1941 bombing? The authors call this porn with feelings, the sex is very well written, and the authors do an amazing job of conveying what it is like for these characters to be sharing these intimate moments in almost complete darkness. However, what really sells this fic is the feelings! There is self doubt, and hesitation, and the two of them are so tender and caring with each other, and I loved the ending.

The Old Guard

The Other Matter by Survivah

Relationships: Joe/Nicky
Summary: He wants Yusuf to hold his hand again. Grab his ankle. Flick his ear. Thrust his sword into his chest and breath into his mouth.
Yet, they have the long ocean of eternity ahead of them. These whims are nothing but a swell under their ship: gone as soon as they come. Nicolo knows better than to jump overboard and drown alone trying to chase them.
Reccer's Note: An absolutely wonderful historical Joe/Nicky fic, that starts with them killing each other in the crusades, and shows how they decide to stop and leave their lives behind, and then follows them on their travels over several years until they eventually meet Andy and Quynh. This is completely from Nicky's POV, and there is so much delicious pining and yearning, and some misunderstandings about the nature of their relationship. I've read quite a few historical Joe/Nicky fics, it is one of my favourite tropes for this pairing, and this fic is definitely in the top tier of Joe/Nicky fics, in my opinion.
This author also wrote a canon divergence of her own fic, The Dragon, where Joe and Nicky separate for a time, it is also very good, but the original fic is still my favourite.

Star Trek AOS(/TOS)

Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply (Angst, Near Death Experiences, Graphic Recovery from illness, Hurt/Comfort)
Summary: Everything that is lost can be found again. Or how Bones died once or twice after an away mission gone wrong, the lengths to which people are willing to go to save him and what happened after.
Reccer's Note: I didn't read the tags and I accidentally originally read this as TOS, it wasn't until the end of the fic that I realized my mistake, but it completely worked with me picturing the TOS cast in these roles. Bones comes down with a illness that makes him forget his memories, the first half is devastating. The second half deals with his recovery, this story does not shy away from how difficult recovering from a near terminal illness is, not only for the patient, but also for the people around them. The friendship between Chapel and Bones in this fic is so well done, I think it is the best Chapel I have ever read. It is established McSpirk, but how Jim and Spock deal with Bones' condition is very different.

I'm sorry all my recs are for slash pairings, but that is what I have been reading a lot lately, but I swear when I started out in fandom I was mostly a het and femslash shipper, **shrug**
