Snowflake Challenge #15

Challenge #15
Talk about an unexpected joyous moment you experienced last year.
I'm afraid I'm having a really hard time thinking of anything at the moment, I'm sure there was, but with all the bad stuff that has been happening in the world in the past couple of weeks it is hard to remember them right now. Anyways, I thought I would mention a few goals I achieved in the past year instead.
1. I created roughly 700 pages on Fanlore last year, documenting fandom history is a bit of a passion of mine, also, if you have never visited Fanlore you really should, it's fun to go down fandom history rabbit holes there.
2. I finished my 2024 Book Bingo card! This was the fourth year where I completed the cards I have created since the Livejournal Book Bingo kind of fizzled out. It makes you feel so accomplished at the end of the year when you can see how many books you're read.
3. I moderated fandomtrees for the fifth year running!
4. I moderated my first exchanges on AO3, the Doctor Who Femslash Drabble Exchange and the Dead Boy Detectives Fic Exchange. I always wanted to try my hand at moderating an exchange on AO3, but it was very intimidating, but with some help from the Exchanges After Dark discord and reading tutorials online, I was able to successfully complete two single fandom exchanges this year.
That's about it, and that was actually pretty great when you look back on it.
One unrelated thing, I am giving away some Stranger Things stickers, so if you would like some, or know a teacher who might like them to give out to their class, please see this post.
Thanks to everyone for joining me in the Snowflake challenge this year!

i felt similarly when writing up the snowflake challenge post - that it can be hard to recall the good given all the bad stuff happening in the world right now. but i think this makes it even more important to actively remember and celebrate the former 🥺
SEVEN HUNDRED PAGES! that's incredible! oh my god! fanlore has been a constant during my decade of participating in fandom, so thank you for your hard work 🫡 did you link them anywhere in your journal where i can take a look at what you've written? if you're willing to share, that is!
i completed a similar reading challenge (on goodreads) too. totally get you on this feeling of accomplishment; it's a banger way to end the year.
and congrats on modding all those exchanges/events :-) i've seen them around, esp. fandomtrees and the dead boy detectives fic exchange. i've always been impressed by how organised they are.

Thank you for all your kind words.

Wow that's amazing!! I love Fanlore for looking up old fandom drama/fandom terms I totally missed when it was happening lmao. Very useful site.
That's awesome you moderated those exchanges and fandomtrees too, that sounds like a lot of work.
