Snowflake Challenge Day 13

Snowflake Challenge promotional banner featuring a wrapped giftbox with a snowflake on the gift tag. Text: Snowflake Challenge January 1-31

Challenge #13

In your own space, tell us about 3 fandom resources you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom!)

Unfortunately my computer died back at the beginning of January, so I lost a lot of my old bookmarks **sad face**, but these are a lot of resources or programs that I use regularly:

==Art and Graphics==
*Home of the Nutty - screencaps, there are other sites out there, but I have used this one the most, especially their Supernatural galleries
*DaFont - free downloadable fonts, 1000s of them, I use this site a lot to find the best text for my cover art
*ezgif - if you don't have the software, but want to make gifs for tumblr or twitter, than this online program is a good alternative, it only has limited effects, but I used it when making all my early gif sets for tumblr. Plus, it has a webp converter, which I use all the time for images I find online
*Canva - this design website is obviously targeted towards small businesses, but they also have lots of templates that can be co-opted for fandom use, including ebook covers and moodboards. They have a lot of free templates, but some you have to pay for, so keep an eye out
*DeviantArt - this one is kind of vague, but a lot of artists post backgrounds and psd brushes that are creative commons and free to download, but sometimes it takes a little digging to find them
*imgbb - image hosting, there are a few out there, but I find this one easy to use, there is no ugly watermarks, and they have been around for awhile, and show no signs of going anywhere **knock on wood**
*Blue Lightning TV - photoshop tutorials, there are a few photoshop channels I subscribe to, but I think this person's tutorials are easiest to follow, the narrator goes step by step through the different processes, and often suggests alternative steps for older versions of phototshop, which other videos will not do. Also, they have a very friendly sounding voice.

==Fandom Information==
*Fanlore - the fandom wiki, great for articles about fandom history
*Supernatural Wiki - I prefer this one over the fandom.com wiki, it has been around for years, is fan run, and is very thorough, especially for the earlier seasons.

==Transcribing==
*DIY History - if you like the idea of transcribing old fanzines, you can do so online with this collection at the University of Iowa, they haven't uploaded anything new since the pandemic began, probably because there are no students to scan the documents, but this is something to keep in mind for the future. (Also fun if you just want to see what old fanzines from the 1940s looked like)

Thanks for the graphics links - I didn't know about many of these!

I knew the fanzine archives existed, but I didn't know there was a transcription project! Let's hope things stabilize for new materials to get online!

Thanks for sharing and joining in Snowflake!

I love Canva! I've been using it so much during the times of COVID, lol.
