Sunshine Challenge Day 3

Prompt 3: Moonstone
Prized for its blue to white adularescence—a billowy, moonlight-like sheen—Moonstone has been closely associated with the Moon. The ancient Romans believed it was frozen moonlight, a gift from the goddess, Luna. Therefore, some consider it an alternative birthstone for those born on Monday, the “Moon’s day”. Due to this lunar association, as well as its calming influence, this gem is considered an excellent aid for those with trouble sleeping. Moonstone is a stone of inner growth and strength; it soothes emotional instability and stress and stabilizes the emotions, providing calmness. Because of all this, Moonstone is often associated with wisdom and dreams.

First off, for OFMD fans, I am running an Our Flag Means Death Bingo challenge over on Tumblr, I've made some fun premade bingo cards, but if you'd like a custom card you can request one through the tumblr blog or on this post.

It's only day three and I'm already running out of recs, so instead I am making an offer.  As some of you may already know, I am an advanced editor over on Fanlore, so I am offering to start fanlore articles for you.  Fanlore articles should be about significant events, fanworks, etc in fandom, so if you have ever checked out Fanlore and thought such and such fic, vid, etc, was really seminal in this XYZ fandom, why doesn't Fanlore have a page for it?   Well, I'm hear to help you out.

So, I guess I will tell you a little about what I look for when creating a page for a "fandom classic" fic for example, one, can I find reviews, recs and reactions somewhere on the web outside of the site it was posted on?  Comments on AO3 are great, but limited, I prefer finding posts on tumblr, twitter, livejournal, etc, where people are like you really should (or should not) go read this fic and here's why.  Secondly, has this fic inspired fanworks of it's own, for example is there artwork, graphics, playlists, etc made by other fans that were inspired by this fic.  Lastly, is this fic responsible for starting a trend, establishing fanon, or converting people to a certain ship in the fandom?

I can't promise to make articles for every fanwork suggested, but I'd be willing to try.  Some may take time to research, but I would be willing to at least make stub articles so there is something there on Fanlore that can be built upon for future editors.

Lastly, If none of that is interesting to you please enjoy this funny vid about banning books:

Man, I'm wracking my brain trying to narrow down fannish history that may not be logged on fanlore. I know that my journey into fanfic and fannish spaces began after reading She Who The Prophecy Foretold by SunsetMiko (Inuyasha fandom) and then joining my first LJ community, [livejournal.com profile] inucomedyclub, which she was the admin for at the time. I tried to gather links to the fic for you just now, but my browser actually displayed nothing at all??? Which may be a symptom of my out of date laptop issues, or perhaps she sadly removed her things from online? I know she was one of the big name authors back in the day and inspired a lot of us to join the party. Forthright is another big name Inuyasha author who influenced a lot of those fandom spaces back in the day (she ran several groups as well).

inuyashafanfiction (website) and dokuga (website) used to have all sorts of author and story awards, so you may find some things there. I know there used to be several LJ comms as well, though I don't know if they still exist or are public access. I deleted my account years ago so can't check for you, unfortunately.
