Snowflake Challenge Day 11

In your own space, talk about your creative process(es) — anything from the initial inspiration to how you feel after something’s done. Do you struggle with motivation or is it a smooth process? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to pull out when a fanwork isn’t cooperating? What is your level of planning to pantsing/winging it?
This one is hard because I don't have much of a process, at least not when it comes to fanfiction. I usually watch a show and get a head canon about a character or pairing, and I have to try and write it down, and before I actually start writing I go over it a least a dozen times in my head, but of course that doesn't always translate to paper. I don't have a beta and I usually only do one revision after my first draft. That being said I write very short stories, my longest fic is about 8500 words and it is a WIP that I have dropped, but I hope to get back to it someday. I am also hoping to push myself and write original and longer stories.
Vids on the other hand is a lot longer process. One, you have to chose the song, which in my case almost always defines what moments I want to showcase. You have to find the scenes and create short clips, and then you have to place the scenes in your editor, trying to match them to the music selection, this can sometimes be frustrating, because sometimes a scene you thought was going to work doesn't end up fitting with the rest of the vid. I am still learning, but I have gotten that I now make shorter vids, usually 25-35s, because in the beginning I would try and make longer, full song vids, and it would seem to take forever and I would get frustrated. 30 second vids are still work, but something I can do in a few days, or less, instead of weeks.
With gif sets I usually make sets that have a quote or short poem (although I do occasionally just make picspam gif sets of a pairing or character), like with the vids, it is trying to match the clips to the words. Sometimes, a really touching scene does not make a good gif, especially if their is no movement or too much movement, which you can't always known until you make the gif and see how it looks.
Lastly, I have been making icons for the first time in the last month, mostly for fandom stockings. It has been a learning process, realizing which pictures make for good icons and which don't, but I can already see I am making process, the more recent icons I've made look much better than the ones I made near the beginning of December.
