Deviantart is having a charity challenge where you watch a video on how to draw a cat, and with every submission of a cat drawing $1 is donated to the Humane Society. My drawing is not near as nice as the instructor's, but considering I can't really draw, I'm quite proud of this one.

Matthew Mercer Sunset Portrait for enemytosleep (click to see larger image). I tried my best, but he came out a little funny looking, I think maybe from the position his arms were in, and I didn't add splatters because I didn't like the way they looked with this one. Anyways, I hope you like it.

Purple is my favourite colour, although I usually prefer a darker purple than violet. Fandom wise I think of the Hawkeyes, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop, from Marvel Comics, purple is a colour heavily associated with them both, especially as a team. I love them, they are walking disasters (although probably Clint more than Kate), who are also superheroes with no superpowers. They love to roast each other, but, when the chips are down, they have each other's backs. They only graphics I've made are two of my icons:



I'm so far behind on the comics, my library didn't have any of the West Coast Avengers, then our provincial Interlibrary Loan Program experienced cutbacks, then when they finally came back Covid happened, but someday I will get to experience Clint and Kate again.

Today's other theme was what things are you able to offer others to bring a little sunshine into their lives? So I'm offering to make sunset portraits of people's fave characters, like the one I made for day one of the challenge. All I require is you provide a large, clear head and shoulders shot of the person, in the example below you will see the original photo I used to create the Castiel portrait:



I've only ever tired this technique with photographs of real life people, I'd be willing to try with animated characters, but there is no guarantee that it will work. Also, your finished image probably wouldn't have as nearly as many splatters, I went a little crazy with the splatters on Castiel's. I'm not sure how long it would take to make, I think can make one in less than half an hour, but real life happens, so be patient with me.

Next, is my last song rec of the challenge, "Best of You" by Andy Grammer, it is such an upbeat song about two people seeing the best in each other, which is such a nice note to end the challenge on.

This year's challenge wasn't as hard as I feared, when I first saw colour prompts I wanted to run screaming into the distance, but it all turned out alright in the end.

Yellow makes me think of sunshine, which isn't such a great thing where I'm living right now, because we are on day eight, I think, of consecutive days over 30°C, and today with the humidity is supposed to feel like 41°C, yikes!

Fandom wise I thought of Jorah Mormont's shirt from Game of Thrones, he wore that shirt by itself, or under his armour, for 6 seasons. I read somewhere that the actor, Ian Glenn, was sad to see it go, when it was "destroyed" after the greyscale, and called it something like this faithful yellow. I went through my old tumblr posts to see if I had ever created anything celebrating Jorah's favourite shirt, and alas I never did, but I rectified that today, by creating this graphic



I'm still learning how to make different lettering effects in photoshop, but I think this one turned out pretty good, for something done on fairly short notice. When I was going through my older stuff on tumblr I found a couple Jorah related gif sets, this one about House Mormont, and this angsty one featuring different GOT couples, fun fact, only one of these couples made it to the end of the series. There was a time in my life when I made a lot of angsty gif sets.

This fic was written for me as part of the Jorlessi Equinox Exchange, they went above and beyond not only writing a fic based on my prompts, but incorporating part of own fic into the story! They write dream imagery very well and it has a very sensual feel to it.

Lastly, I couldn't decide between two songs recs for today, so I just decided to share both. The first one is "Happy Ending" by Mika, which is such an upbeat song about a sad topic, it's about someone realizing that the relationship between themselves and the person they love is not meant to be. Also, today is the first time I ever watched the official video, and it's weird, but in a delightful way.



I remember seeing a really good multifandom fan vid, about couples who didn't last or never got together, with this song a few years ago. I tried searching for it this morning, but unfortunately the one I remember didn't come up in the search results, so sadly it may be lost to the sands of time.

My second song rec is "Summer Sound" by Romes, which is just a fun summer bop, that makes me want to dance.

Fic cover, plus another piece, I made for the fic Crossing the Streams, as part of the SPN Spring Exchange. I just read the fic and it's pure crack. All I knew about the fic when creating the pieces was the fic summery and that the author told me that Dean would have bat wings, so if that sounds like it might be up your weird alley, check it out.
