Challenge #11

In your own space, Talk about your favorite trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme.

One of my favourite tropes is hurt/comfort! I don't know if I would have said that a few years ago, or maybe I just wasn't so aware of it. Since I have been in Good Omens fandom I have read so many stories where Crowley or Aziraphale is hurt, and the other one has to take care of them afterwards (even better is they are rescued!). This has spread over into all my different fandoms, with my faves being hurt then comforted. I wouldn't say I like whump by itself all that much, there has be comfort afterwards or it feels like it is unfinished for me. Now I know there is some debate about how much of a story should be hurt and how much comfort, some say 70/30, other like 50/50. I don't really have a firm stance on this, I have read stories that are heavy on the hurt, and stories where there is a little bit of hurt at the beginning and then it's all comfort, and everything in between, and I have enjoyed them all.

A couple of Good Omens recs:
First, if you like Ineffable Husbands and want hurt/comfort check out they write a ridiculous amount of GO fic and they write a lot of hurt/comfort.  They come up with inventive ways for the hurt to happen, which you kind of have to with characters that are supernatural beings, you'd think they'd run out of ideas, but 400+ fics later and they're still going strong.

If you want to have your heart broken by the first chapter, and then have it put back together by the last two, check out Eternity in the Deepest Pit by AppleSeeds (T, 14,965 words), where Azirarphale disguised as Crowley is tossed into a deep in Hell and faced with a terrible temptation.
